Simeon Coleman convicted of two counts of Assault on a Police Officer

Press Release For Immediate Release February 15, 2008

(HAMILTON, OH) A Butler County jury deliberated two hours before convicting Simeon Coleman of two counts of Assault on a Police Officer late Thursday afternoon.

Simeon Coleman, age 25, of Cincinnati, was being booked into the Butler County Jail on an unrelated probation violation when he assaulted Officer Kyle Kindell by punching him three times in the rib cage. Another correction officer, Douglas Wilhelm, came to the aid of Officer Kindell and was punched in the face by the defendant. Coleman took the stand in his own defense and stated that he did not assault the corrections officers, but that they attacked him.

Prosecutor Piper stated, “Getting attacked and punched in the face is not part of the job description. We take this type of case very seriously. The cost of Coleman’s assault should be incarceration.”

Coleman faces up to 18 months on each conviction when he is sentenced on March 26, 2008 at 8:30am before the Honorable Craig Hedric. His prior convictions include Theft, Obstructing Official Business, and Attempted Trafficking in Drugs.
