John Mulcher Sentenced to Life After Pleading Guilty to Multiple Charges

Thirty-three year old John Mucher of Hamilton, Ohio was sentence today to life in prison with parole eligibility in 35 years, after he pled guilty as charged on December 22, 2008 to 6 counts of Rape, 1 count of Gross Sexual Imposition, 2 counts of Illegal Use of a Minor in a Nudity Oriented Material or Performance, and 30 counts of Pandering Sexually Oriented Matter Involving a Minor. Mucher had been molesting an eight-year old child since 2004. His conduct came to light in August of 2008 when the child disclosed a "secret" to a friend. The child's disclosure caused Det. Mark Hayes of the Hamilton Police Department to launch an investigation, which led to a confession by the defendant and the seizure of numerous materials containing child pornography. Prosecutor Piper stated, “The law will allow him to become eligible for parole when he is 68-years old, but justice requires that he spend the rest of his life behind bars. He should never get out of prison for what he did to this little girl. Detective Hayes did an outstanding job, now the prison system needs to keep our children safe and keep Mucher locked up for life.” Mucher was also classified as a Tier III offender. Should he be released from prison, Mucher will be required to register with the local sheriff’s office every ninety-days for the rest of his life.
