Scott Hester Sentenced to 9 Years for Robbery Spree

Scott Hester, a forty-five year old Hamilton man, was sentenced yesterday to 9 years in prison for his robbery spree earlier this year.

Hester robbed three Hamilton West-side businesses - the Speedway on Eaton Avenue on May 23rd, the Eaton Avenue Ameristop on May 24th, and the AurGroup Credit Union on NW Washington Boulevard on May 27th. Although Hester displayed a weapon during each heist, fortunately, no employees were injured.

Hester fled with over $9,000 between the three businesses and eluded police until he was taken into custody at 840 Campbell Avenue, Hamilton, after the Hamilton Police Department SWAT team was called to assist.

Hester’s prior felony convictions include Possession of Cocaine, Tampering With Evidence, Escape, and Carrying a Concealed Weapon.

Prosecutor Piper stated, “Some people make decisions in a way that you think they want to go to prison. This type of misconduct was headed nowhere but to prison. Freedom is so valuable, its disappointing to see a man throw it away.”

“We thank the Hamilton Police Department for their swift efforts in apprehending this defendant, because his conduct was escalating in volume and violence, and eventually someone would have gotten hurt. The SWAT team’s apprehension of this individual prevented other crimes,” Piper concluded.
